The diagnostic metrics, visualizers, frequency generators, and troubleshooting guides provided on Pro Mic, Camera & Audio Tester Suite are intended for general informational, educational, and consumer hardware verification purposes only.
1. Hardware Diagnostic Estimation Disclaimer
All telemetry values displayed in our Microphone Test and Webcam Test—including decibel levels (dBFS), star quality ratings, sample rates, bit depths, and estimated round-trip latency—are software-level approximations reported by your web browser's implementation of the W3C MediaStreamTrack.getSettings() and AudioContext APIs:
- Decibel Readings (dBFS vs. dB SPL): Our decibel meter measures digital signal level relative to full scale (
dBFS) from-60.0 dBto0.0 dB. It is not a calibrated physical Sound Pressure Level (dB SPL) meter and should not be used for occupational noise safety compliance or architectural acoustics certification. - OS & Browser Resampling: Some operating systems and web browsers automatically resample audio inputs to a default system mixer rate (such as 48,000 Hz) before exposing the stream to web pages. Therefore, the reported sample rate reflects the active browser audio graph rather than necessarily the raw hardware limit of an external USB/XLR interface.
2. Browser Compatibility & OS Permission Notes
While our suite adheres strictly to modern HTML5 standards, certain browser vendors (such as Apple Safari on iOS/macOS or Firefox with enhanced fingerprinting protection) may intentionally mask hardware device names or omit specific properties like outputLatency or sampleSize until explicit microphone or camera permission is granted.
3. Acoustic Safety & Hearing Precaution Disclaimer
Our Headphones & Speaker Test generates mathematical sine waves from 20 Hz to 20,000 Hz, and our Listen Live (Hear Yourself) feature routes live microphone audio to your speakers or headphones. Always lower your device volume before initiating tone playback or live loopback, and always wear headphones when using live loopback to prevent high-decibel acoustic feedback. Pro Mic, Camera & Audio Tester Suite assumes no responsibility for speaker driver damage or hearing discomfort resulting from excessive volume settings.
