When you grant permission to test your microphone or camera using our diagnostic suite, the browser's native navigator.mediaDevices.getUserMedia, Web Audio API, and MediaRecorder API process the signal strictly on your local device:

  • Audio Recordings: When you click Record Audio, PCM audio samples are held temporarily in your browser tab's memory so you can play back or download a .wav file to your own device. Refreshing or closing the tab permanently erases the buffer.
  • Webcam Video & Snapshots: Live camera previews and PNG snapshots are rendered onto an HTML5 <canvas> element inside your browser. No video frames or images are ever sent over the network.
  • Hardware Identifiers: Device labels (such as your microphone or webcam model name) are read locally from your browser to populate the selector dropdowns and diagnostic table and are never logged externally.

2. Browser Local Storage (localStorage) Preferences

To improve your user experience across visits without requiring user accounts or server databases, our website stores three non-personal preference keys in your browser's localStorage:

  • promic_theme: Remembers whether you selected Dark Mode ("dark") or Light Mode ("light").
  • promic_autostart: Remembers whether you enabled the Autostart next time toggle ("true" or "false").
